No cash option....

Okay, the magazine people emailed me back this morning and there isnt a cash option. But I can pick the foods I want and freeze/store the bulk of it. I have a girlfriend at church whose family has a catering business and I will call her and see if they will work with me. I'd love a nice BBQ with steaks and chicken and ribs and all the sides and a nice birthday cake in June for all my family. And that shouldnt be over $750-$1000. The cookbooks I won should be no more than $500. So I figure about $2000 in 'groceries' that I should be able to distribute to my family and store for later. And if its all meat, even better. I know, us carnivores suck, but it sure tastes good! My parents love to grill and if I could stock my Dad's freezer I'd make him so happy. But I dont know details until I send in the affy so more on that later.

Las Vegas baby!!!!!

Hubby came home last night and asked if I'd like to go to Vegas with him in March for a tradeshow. The company will pay all expenses. Heck yah! I havent been since 1995 and a 4 day weekend in Vegas would be fun. No kids and we'd be staying at The Venetian. His tradeshow is at The Venetian so he wouldnt have far to go(no cabs) and we could meet up for lunch. I love slot machines and warm weather sounds so good right now!

I won a sweepstakes!!

Okay, in my free time I play on the internet alot and I entered a sweepstakes from GOURMET magazine last November and I got a call yesterday morning that I had won! I won a catered birthday party dinner for 20 people valued at $3500. Okay, I live in a small town and I cant fathom food for twenty people costing that much. The sweeps also included some cookbooks, which I love. I've been talking to the gal from the magazine and I said we would have a big BBQ in June at my parents house and have all the family over but I need to find a catering company. I want to pick the food and I dont know what all the details are but it should be fun. I'd love a gift certificate to the grocery store much better as I can feed my family of four for 5-6 months with $3500 but I doubt they'll do that. But one can always dream!

Next year........Hawaii

Okay, so last year for our 15th anniversary my husband took us on a Carribbean cruise the week of Valentines Day. It was great-until the car wreck were the Jamaican police car hit us head on at high speed and fled the scene. And the first 30 minutes after that I was in shock but came to as the Jamaican customs treated us like CRAP and refused to let us get on our ship. Anyway, husband told me yesterday that next February we might go to Hawaii. No kids again, just us. Would I want to go? Oh yeah!! The beach all day and no cars. White sand, warm water, shell hunting, fresh fruit-I'm there!! So I have something to look forward to to get me out of this depression. It snowed slightly but it was 5 degrees yesterday morning. And the kids dont have school tomorrow and I'm still PMSed so I'm in a bad place!

Bleary January.............

Is it ever gonna snow, or do we have three more months or coldness and grey everywhere? The mountains need snow or else its gonna be a rotten summer...........I'm mega PMSed and depressed. I hate being depressed but at least I recognize it and can work at getting out of it. All the greyness doesnt help any. Or the TV. Have you ever heard of a BRAVO show about Orange County Housewives? Mega rich wenches who arent ever satisfied? Unbelievable. Huge houses, nice clothes, perky boobs and loads of money. Wouldnt it be nice! Course, their kids are mouthy and I dont ever see the husbands so that isnt a good trade off. My kids are sweet and respectful and my hard working husband doesnt ever bitch about my latest trip to The Body Shop for more body butters. Sure, a brand new car would rock and a new house would be sweet but my faithful minivan runs great and my house is a HOME! Big difference ladies! You cant buy that in LA!!
