A relaxing Friday!

I love the Friday after Thanksgiving! I DONT do the shopping frenzy-how stupid do you think I am? I slept in, cleaned house, read and basically relaxed all day. I sorted thru weeks worth of junk mail and coupons and paid bills. Daughter and I hit the grocery store and easily manuevered thru the aisles getting the few things we needed. And I didnt have to wait in a line at checkout! I washed all the laundry and got all the folding done and only have to make the bed. I feel so ahead of myself!! Daughter has already had her bath and is watching cartoons in her jammies so at bedtime it'll be a smooth sail.

Is it bedtime yet?

I am SOOO tired. I've been going non-stop since Wednesday. Tuesday night I had a GNO at Pizza Hut and it was a hoot. We talked and ate and just enjoyed being women! Wednesday I worked until 1pm and ran home to get my son out of school and to his ortho appt. I started getting food/supplies ready that night for Thursday. Its Parent/Teacher conferences and the PTO had a luncheon planned. So I made French Dipped Roast beef Wednesday night. Woke up Thursday and made two Texas sheet cakes and two crockpots of soup. One potatoe and one chicken pot pie. Raced to the school and set up all the crockpots(5 moms also made soups) and laid out all the rolls, treats and utensils. Raced to Costco to get treats for Friday and more rolls and a veggie tray. Ran the kids to Grandmas and back home for an appt Alan and I had from 6-10pm. Got the kids at 10:30 and got home and fell asleep. Woke up today and made another crock of soup. Got it to the school and ran to work. Raced home at 2:30pm to let the dog out and run to downtown Boise by4pm to get a sign the PTO had made for our annual craft fair. Got there at 3:46 and the jerk had closed early! I'm still ticked about that..............I stopped and got Chinese food for dinner tonight. Too tired to cook..............We have to be at the church at 8am to clean before we go to work

My dad is in the hospital

We had a baptism to attend last night and afterwards we decided to check out the new Sams Club/Walmart Super Center down the road. I wasnt impressed-I'm sticking with Costco. Anyway, we get home at 7:22pm and theres a message on my answering machine from my mom. "Just wanted you to know I had to take your father to the emergency room. Dont worry. I'll call you later. " Click. Now, if you're gonna leave a message, leave the details as to WHY you are in the emergency room! Dont expect me to hear the message and go, "Oh. Okay. I'll wait until you call back." . So I hit redial and got the ER operator who patched me thru. They had already checked my dad in and were taking him up to a room. I waited and soon Mom aswered. Seems Dad had a fever of 103.3 and was cold and achy. Back in 1954 he broke his leg and they put a plate in it and the legs is hot and red and they think they'll need to operate and take out that plate. Wont know more until I visit tomorrow, but he's on heavy antibiotics and pain meds. Dad is 65 years old and not in the best of health. Course, he's in better shape then Mom who's had both knees replaced in the last 3 years and has diverticulosis(sp?). And Mom was just at the hospital last week. My aunts were visiting and they decided to go out to dinner. At Sizzler, Mom got hit in the calf with the door and it punctured her leg. It gushed so bad another patron called 911. Mom refused the 1/2 mile ambulance ride to St Lukes because it would cost her $900. They drove up and walked into the ER. It took 36 some stitches to seal the wound because her skin is so fragile. And its still oozing. All of this has me REALLY examing my lifestyle and doubling my efforts to eat better and lose weight. I DO NOT want to end up like my mom. Love her, but dont want to be her.

Lots to do..........get going.............

As I predicted, three parents showed up for the PTO meeting. But 8 teachers came and thats a record. I really dont mind when parents dont show because then we get to spend the money how we think it should be spent. Last month we had a frozen cookie dough fundraiser and our school sold over $30,000 worth of frozen dough. The school gets 45% so its about $14,000 in profit. We sent out flyers telling parents to come to the meeting and give ideas on what we should use it for and thats who came to the meeting. I always vote for more library books and last year we gave about$9000 to the library. And library books are VERY EXPENSIVE so its not really alot of money. This year I think the library should get two digital cameras and more books! Anyway, after the meeting everyone was chatting and eating the Snickerdoodles I made when Ginger asked, "Cindy, you're still okay to bring a chocolate sheet cake for tomorrow night, right?". Seems my dear husband had forgot to tell me he had volunteered my baking skills for the Daddy-Daughter fun night at the church. So I need to run to Macys today and get one of those nice, high lipped cookie sheets. Hubby said he would just stop at Costco and buy a sheet cake but it costs as much as the pan so I want the pan!

Mothers remorse-worse than shoppers remorse

I am such a jerk to my kids. I yell WAY too often and show such little patience at times. In my defense, I am exhausted. Its month end/statement day and I was up practically all night. We had company for dinner yesterday and I didnt wash the dishes last night. After they left the trick-or-treaters hit and then I was doing invoices. So all night my stupid cat was jumping from the table to the kitchen counter and trying to lick BBQ off the plates and find chicken bones to gnaw on. And with every dish that clanked the stupid dog leaped off the foot of the bed to check out the noise. Finally, at 3:30am, I'd had enough. I kicked the dog outside and stomped over to the sink. I grabbed my bottle of apple blossom Dawn detergent and DOUSED the entire stack of dirty dishes. I emptied that sucker. Threw down the bottle and looked at Max and said, "Lick away......." and hit the bathroom. Course by then the dog was whining to get in and my nose started to tickle and I was wide awake. I popped an allergy pill and played Mah Jong for 30 minutes and crawled into bed. Wasnt enjoyable though as 7am hit far sooner than I wanted and had to climb back out. Work sucked. Lets leave it at that. Tomorrow is a PTO meeting and I need to make cookies but I 'll wait until the last minute. So few parents even bother to attend that its sometimes not worth it.
